I wonder if more studies like this will convince people of global climate change. Living in Houston since I was 5 I have seen vast changes in the amount of rain and the increased heat and drought over the years.cbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15973130077165296376noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6596435932432099029.post-22687229582664629052014-02-04T21:22:39.678-06:002014-02-04T21:22:39.678-06:00It is too bad that they did not include maps that ...It is too bad that they did not include maps that are used in the models. These models though a very complicated maps that simulate changes in driving forces on land change. If you look at Land Change Science articles they refer to the models are maps where they study the relationships between society and the environment. sounnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13095941808937540554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6596435932432099029.post-24185232422401587472014-02-04T21:20:31.217-06:002014-02-04T21:20:31.217-06:00Yes! The major argument is on how to look at bringing in the social context in studying land-use change and how that impacts global change. Land Change Science heavily uses GIS and other computing methods to conduct studies. What you can see here is that there is a lot of theory behind the GIS that is done, to the point that it can almost be overlooked. sounnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13095941808937540554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6596435932432099029.post-61664456038686653852014-02-04T19:26:37.405-06:002014-02-04T19:26:37.405-06:00I would love to see all of these variables laid ou...I would love to see all of these variables laid out in a map that visually portrays causal relationships between each of the anthropogenic changes. We could easily map indigenous and endangered species and areas of deforestation or water pollution, but it would be difficult to map the social and cultural contributors. I feel like when looking at problems like this, you can use the maps to help, but you have to keep the cultural climate of that area in mind rather than map it.Kayla Guentzelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17093777022013073732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6596435932432099029.post-30268509717350390722014-02-04T00:14:31.949-06:002014-02-04T00:14:31.949-06:00Can GIS be applied to this topic in an effort to f...Can GIS be applied to this topic in an effort to find the best way for humans to coexist with the rest of the world?
